System Operations Updates Staff Computer Operation Skills

The System Operations sub-sector of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has organised a 2- week soft-ware Appreciation seminar for 20 Human Resources (HR) and Finance and Accounts (F&A) staff from all the regions across the country.
The training which was held at the New Horizons Computer Learning Center, Abuja, started on 15th and ended on 26th June, 2015. The major objective of the seminar was to upgrade and re-equip the staff with the new software skills and capacity for generating data and returns from field locations and sending same to the Corporate Headquarters in Abuja.
The Program exposed the participants to the Microsoft Office software platforms which include Word, Excel, Acess, Power point as well as Publisher and Visio.

At the end of the program, the Assistant General Manager (HR), Mrs. Abiola Ahagbuje, who represented the Managing Director, System Operations during the closing ceremony,  encouraged participants not to relent in the quest to further their knowledge and skills especially in modern information technology and related how she had to undergo self- sponsored computer skill training in order to cope with the changing trends in the office.

Ahagbuje presented the leaders of each zone with a laptop computer which would be dedicated to processing and forwarding regional returns to the Corporate Headquarters in Abuja. She cautioned the staff to desist from the habit of procrastination and urged them to be diligent and dedicated to the discharging their responsibilities as they now have dedicated computer sets to do their jobs.

The AGM (HR) SO also commended New Horizons for delivering a successful computer training program for TCN staff and encouraged them to keep improving on such professional services.  The participants were later presented certificates of course attendance. Grace Alade, SM (F&A) SO, who gave a vote of thanks on behalf of all the participants applauded TCN management for organising the program and suggested that such programs should be made more regular for staff.
On the sideline of the workshop, Esebonu Christopher, F&A staff in the corporate headquarters, explained that the program made him feel empowered, as it afforded him the opportunity to learn new computer skills and interact with colleagues from other regions of the company.
